"Flags of Our Fathers" by James Bradley

For those of us not old enough to remember World War II, "Flags of Our Fathers" is the story of the six young men who were the subjects of a Pulitzer Prize Winning photograph of the U.S. Flag raising after the battle of Iwo Jima. This book is much more than a "battle story about World War II", it deals with the issues soldiers face after the war is over and they resume their civilian lives. For those who were lucky to live through this difficult war, resuming their lives at home proved difficult. Many suffered from depression and alcoholism. If you read this book you will get a clearer view of the sacrifices that war takes on our soldiers.
