A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini

06-01-07 If you enjoyed "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini you will also enjoy "A Thousand Splendid Suns"! The story is told by the point of view of two different women who have the misfortune to be the wives of the same unpleasant man. Normally I don't like books written by authors of the opposite sex of the characters they are writing about. In this case Hosseini did a very good job expressing the thoughts and feelings of these two women. He also presented the history and culture of Afghanistan in a way that was educational as well as inspirational. It's not a particularily "happy" book, but it is a hopeful one. I found myself liking it so much that I tried to slow my reading down because I didn't want to get to the end. When I finished the book my first thoughts were "Wow, what a story teller!" READ IT!
